OVER TO YOU!
This is your chance to tell us what you’ve been up to!
We’d love to print your stories of things you’ve done for Tearfund. You can email us with your ideas or stories at actionpack@tearfund.org, or write to the address below.
We want to say a big WELL DONE to Ruth Bainbridge who raised over £50 for Tearfund by doing a sponsored silence.
Ruth says ‘I found it very difficult to be quiet because I wanted to tell people things and say "hello" and things like that. I was very pleased that I managed to be silent for 12 hours. I'm glad that I've raised money for charity, because I wanted to do something for God after New Wine.’
Thank you Ruth!
We’ve also been sent a brilliant poem by Ellamae Hindley aged 8 from Wymondham.
Does it have to be?
Walk for miles for dirty water
No rain for two years
Dry dusty land
With no food to grow.
No animals, they have died
No friend in the sun, he is killing the land.
Such a small life
Hungry, weary, alone
Sadness and pain is all you can see
In his eyes.
An empty world
His eyes so large,
He reached out his hands, and
Closed his eyes
No voice to call, but God knew his pain.
God takes his weary hand
Now happy, he will live forever
With God by his side, holding his hand.
That’s brilliant Ellaemae. Thank you.
And Rebecca Harrington aged 11 from Twickenham has written to say,
‘At my school we were learning about the cocoa farmers in Ghana(Africa), and out of every 1 pound spent on chocolate they only get 6p! I think that is very unfair so I only buy Fairtrade chocolate(even though it is a little bit more expensive).we were pretending to be cocoa farmers and were trying to sell cocoa, and we did not earn much!’
Thanks for that Rebecca!
